Mil Máscaras is the ring name of Aarón Rodríguez Arellano, one of the best-known figures in Mexican lucha libre. Public sources agree that he began his career in the first half of the 1960s; WWE places his debut in Guadalajara in the mid-1960s and his U.S. breakthrough in Los Angeles in 1968. He is also credited with helping popularize lucha libre outside Mexico through appearances in the United States and Japan, as well as work in film. Among his most notable moments are his appearance in the 1997 Royal Rumble, his WCW match against Cactus Jack, and his induction into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2012. The sources consulted also describe him as a long-running legend with major runs across Mexican and international promotions.
