Hurricane Ramirez

Huracán Ramírez is one of the most recognizable characters in Mexican lucha libre, linked to the legacy of wrestler and actor Daniel García Arteaga, who adopted the ring role in the mid-1950s after its original film roots. Public sources indicate that he debuted in 1941 and that his identity as Huracán Ramírez became firmly established in the 1950s, with blue and white as his signature colors. Throughout his career, he became an important figure in Empresa Mexicana de Lucha Libre, now CMLL, where he headlined major matches and maintained long-running rivalries, especially with Karloff Lagarde. Among his most cited achievements are winning the NWA World Welterweight Championship and scoring notable apuestas victories, including unmasking Espanto III in 1964. He was also remembered for his international popularity and for his connection to Mexican cinema. Sources report retirement in 1987 and death in 2006.
