STORY AND HIGHLIGHTS

The Loner

El Solitario was the ring name of Roberto González Cruz, a Mexican professional wrestler born in 1946 and deceased in 1986. He debuted in the 1960s and quickly became known for his gold-and-black presentation, along with a mask inspired by the Lone Ranger. He established himself in EMLL and later in the UWA, where he remained a major attraction. Among his best-known moments were his legendary rivalries with Ángel Blanco and Dr. Wagner, as well as high-stakes mask matches that helped cement his place among the great icons of Mexican lucha libre. Public sources also identify him as a holder of different middleweight, light heavyweight, and semicomplete titles across stages of his career. He is remembered for defeating and unmasking notable rivals, especially Ángel Blanco. He died on April 6, 1986, a date widely documented in public sources.
