Aníbal

Aníbal was the ring name of Carlos Ignacio Carrillo Contreras, a Mexican professional wrestler whose career developed mainly during the 1960s and 1970s. Public sources state that he made his debut in November 1963 and adopted the masked Aníbal character in 1965. He worked for Empresa Mexicana de Lucha Libre and later for the Universal Wrestling Association, where he became an important figure in Mexican lucha libre. Verified highlights of his career include winning the Mexican National Middleweight Championship and taking part in notable bouts at Arena México. CMLL records a title match for the NWA version of the World Middleweight Championship against Koma at the company’s 26th Anniversary event in 1970. He is also remembered for important rivalries and apuesta matches, including the mask loss to Máscara Año 2000 in 1991. He retired in 1993 and died in 1994.
